HOPE in Henfield 2009

"Showing Active Compassion for Others"

“...those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength"
Isaiah 40:31

Henfield’s Outreach to Provide Encouragement
27th -30th August this year will see village churches, charities, business organisations and associations uniting for the purpose of reaching out to the people of Henfield showing love and compassion through practical action.

There will be also be organised groups of young people providing help to those who need it. They will be conspicuously dressed clearing gardens; providing basic DIY in homes; clearing public spaces; providing holiday clubs for younger children; events that reach the elderly; and lots more.

Although this proposal supports the Village Action Plan for Henfield, its main tenets will be: to help those who cannot help themselves; to help those who cannot afford to do things; and to provide a service to help the local environment. It will promote young people in a positive light, which fits into the West Sussex Youth Strategy and Horsham District Council’s Community Development Strategy in supporting communities.

The King’s Field will provide the focus for events and a hog roast with fun and games and lots more.

Giving to others freely brings unexpected personal satisfaction; it brings hope and joy to those who do not have any; it demonstrates that church is not irrelevant and outdated but is prepared to do something for the good of society.
